HEEL PAIN

The heel bone is also known as the calcaneus and along with the talus bone is part of the rearfoot (aka hindfoot).  Ligaments, tendons, nerves, arteries and veins are also found in this area of the foot and provide support.  Some of these structures include the plantar fascia, the Achilles tendon, the posterior tibial
tendon, the peroneal tendons as well as the ankle joint. If any of the structural support of this part of the foot is irritated, inflamed, injured or not functioning as intended, it can cause instability in the rearfoot and result in pain. Our goal for treatment is to reduce pain and maintain function.
